Jill's Journey for Make-A-Wish
Last spring of 2016, I had the opportunity to intern with Make-A-Wish Mississippi and the experience changed my life! During my time as an intern, I worked closely with the wish coordinators and other staff members to ensure that our Make-A-Wish kids were granted the wish of their dreams! Getting to know the dedicated staff members and working with the Make-A-Wish families was such a blessing and I learned so much about Make-A-Wish! This organization is truly amazing and I am thrilled to be helping them fundraise through this incredible journey!
In June, I will be participating in the Trailblaze Challenge benefitting Make-A-Wish! In just one day, I will be hiking 26.3 miles across a section of the Pinhoti Trail for the Make-A-Wish Mississippi Chapter. I'm excited to see some of the most scenic views in the Southeast along this trail! My goal is to complete this amazing challenge in one very long day (rain or shine) AND raise $2,500 for Make-A-Wish!
I have decided to take on this challenge to raise awareness as well as money for Make-A-Wish Mississippi. Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. A wish come true empowers children to fight harder against their illnesses. When they are granted a wish, they get more than just a great experience for a day, two days, or a week. That experience improves the quality of life for them and their entire family.
I am taking on this extreme endeavor in order to be a part of something bigger than myself. Many wish children will not have the opportunity to take on a mountain or experience the wilderness, and it provides me with great strength and courage to know that my actions are contributing to such a worthy cause.
