Hello There and Welcome to My Page!
On June 3, 2017, I will be participating in the Trailblaze Challenge benefiting Make-A-Wish. Most people who know me kn0w that I have probably run hundreds of 5k’s in my my life, several 10k’s, and most recently a half marathon. However, I have never done any of this for the sake of someone else. So for the first time ever, I will be hiking 26.3 miles on the Pinhoti Trail in one day for the Make-A-Wish Mississippi Chapter. The goal is to complete this amazing challenge in rain or shine and raise my part of $2,500 for Make-A-Wish!
While this will challenge me physically, the bigger challenge for me is to step out of my comfort zone and humbly ask for support to raise funds along the way for Make-A-Wish Mississippi. What is Make-A-Wish foundation and why give to this organization? Glad you asked! Make-A-Wish is an incredible organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich their human experience with hope, strength, and joy. A wish come true empowers children to fight harder against their illnesses. When they are granted a wish, they get more than just a great experience for a day, two days, or a week. That experience improves the quality of life for them and their entire family. In fact, 74% of wish-parents observed that the wish experience marked a turning point in their own children's response to treatment!
That’s why I am taking on this extreme endeavor in order to be a part of something bigger than myself, as cliche as it may sound. Many wish-children will not have the opportunity or physical strength to take on a mountain or experience the wilderness, and what fuels me on is to know that my actions are contributing to a worthy cause.
You may give through this online portal or if you prefer to send a check by mail please contact me for my mailing address.
Thank you for considering supporting me in this adventure as we work together to grant wishes to these precious children!
